General Information
| DharmaPhone is a software package that allows
placing near-toll quality telephone calls over the Internet (or any network using the
TCP/IP protocol), simulating the experience of making a traditional phone call. Other
remarkable characteristics are its tiny size (aprox 245Kb uncompressed) and its extremely
simple usage. Even more, using a Dharma Internet
Gateway connected to current PABX systems, you can use Internet as another telephone
line. Mainly, DharmaPhone is FREE. All DharmaPhone needs to run is included in its executable. No need to worry about external components, or any additional software to run it. You just need a Pentium based processor (100 MHz or higher) running Windows 95 or Windows NT operating systems (please check the minimum requirements information on our download page). To call someone on Internet DharmaPhone allows users to publish their identity on ILS servers. This way your personal information will appear in our Directory Server (an ILS server that DataVoice has set up for the convenience of DharmaPhone users), so any other person in the world using DharmaPhone can check the list, find your name and make a call. Also, DharmaPhone registers the 'dpd://' protocol and the '*.DPD' files on your computer. This way, placing an Internet Call from within Web content is as easy as placing a link in your page to the desired address (computer name, IP address or E-Mail address). More on this can be found in our Browser Integration page. You can also can learn how to use DharmaPhone from other programs by checking our ICQ configuration page. |
